The Physical Therapists at Ancora Pain Recovery have received extensive training in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) through the McKenzie Institute, http://www.mckenzieinstituteusa.org/method-patients.cfm. This style of therapy is patient centered and utilizes education and individualized plans specific to each client’s complaints and symptoms. Our focus is on engaging the patient and making them an active participant in their care which optimizes the outcome potential. Our ultimate goal is to improve the symptomatic, movement, and functional needs of each individual through a “patient-centered” treatment experience.
Dear Chris Whitmore, Thank you so much for being so kind and understanding. You were really the first therapist who made me feel like you really understood chronic pain and how frustrated I was. You really care. You were absolutely right in that the McKenzie Method would relieve my pain and that working with Gary was going to be the best thing for me. It is amazing to me that for almost 30 years I suffered with constant chronic pain and that in the 2 weeks we worked together using McKenzie there was an immediate improvement. Then to come back in January and work with Gary; I really didn't believe him when he told me that we would probably only work together 4-6 weeks and I would be all better. I thought, yeah, right! It took a little longer but I am happy to tell you that I am 90% pain free 90% of the time. The most amazing thing is that when I am in pain, I now have tools and knowledge I can use to get out of a pain cycle AND stop it if I do what I know I need to do. AMAZING! Thank you for helping me get my life back.
I recently began acupuncture treatments with Dr. Campbell. Never having done this before, I was a little apprehensive, but very excited at the possibility of an additional means of pain relief. Before scheduling the initial appointment, Shannon, the new patient coordinator, was very helpful in answering all my preliminary questions. Once the treatment plan was in place, she offered to coordinate my feedback communications (emails) with Dr. Campbell. This has made it so easy to keep him informed of the requested post-acupuncture status and to get his guidance for continued progress. I commend Shannon for her professional, helpful attitude--something I feel I don't see very often these days. Also, I want to say how kind and comforting Dr. Campbell has been during the acupuncture sessions. He shows concern for me as a patient and has performed the acupuncture to provide much-needed pain relief. I look forward to continuing through this process in my new adventure.
I want to thank Ancora Pain Recovery. Before finding you I was being treated by the VA for dystonia. I was on 23 different meds and was only given a once a year procedure. I thought I was going to die, and I wanted to die. Since coming to Ancora Pain Recovery I feel as if my life has taken on a whole new direction. Dr. Campbell re-evaluated my medications, talked to me about procedure options and introduced me to physical therapy (mechanical diagnosis & treatment) and massage therapy to help combat the symptoms of dystonia.
After visiting your office I was finally able to plant a garden this year! I feel better than I have in 10 years.
I am overjoyed with the care and attention I have received from Dr. Dykes and his staff in your Dalton office. I have been to Emory and have had various tests run to no avail as to how to ease the pain. When I first came to Dr. Dykes in July 2014, I was in so much pain, I had to have an assistance of a cane to walk. Since Dr. Dykes recommended a Selective Nerve Root Block, I have had a whole new independence! I have been able to mow my yard, which I have not been able to do since 1995, and go grocery shopping without assistance.
I am so glad I found Ancora Pain Recovery. Everyone is wonderful! I am finally at a point where I can deal with my pain, thanks to Dr. Adams and nurse practitioner, Andrea. Also, Gary, physical therapist, is brilliant! He has me moving better than I have in a year and a half. You all are such a blessing to me and I am forever grateful for all of your care. I have referred several people to you and know they will get the same outstanding care that I am. Thank you to all of you, for who you are and what you do.
I would like to compliment Chris Whitmore and his outstanding care and guidance. His level of expertise leaves me not only better equipped in managing chronic pain, but has also given me a sense of accomplishment and well-being. His knowledge and skill shines through in every aspect of working with him. I have a long relationship with chronic pain; 20+ years. I now look back at previous physical therapy experiences and shake my head in wonder. My life and life-style have indeed changed tremendously these last 20+ years. It is so encouraging to finally be on the receiving end of high-quality, innovative MDT (mechanical diagnosis & treatment). Looking back, not only was my move placing me closer to my daughter and her family a great decision, but serendipity would allow me to be introduced me to Ancroa Pain Recovery, Dr. Strother and Chris Whitmore. Thank you!
Physical Therapist Chris Whitmore has changed my life. I could not even open my hands or grab on to anything until I started working with him. I have had so much relief from my neck pain that I do not feel I’ll need the surgery another doctor recommended! If I would’ve known years ago that I could feel this much relief from physical therapy (Mechanical Diagnosis & Treatment) I would have been going all along.
Thank you Gary Dykes, my favorite physical therapist, for helping me learn to prevent and relive my pain just by doing a few exercises. Thanks to you, I am getting stronger every day!
